Crystal Camino
Getting to Santiago de Compostela one step at a time
Crystal Camino is a step by step travel log of a 2 month hike from Le Puy en Velay France to Santiago de Compostela Spain on the Camino de Santiago.

My husband Mark and I have made a great life for ourselves in our vibrant, quirky and lovely community of Flin Flon, Manitoba in northern Canada. We've raised three great kids and astonishingly have had the opportunity to , among many other experiences, perform in Carnegie Hall and The Lincoln Centre with my dear Flin Flon Community Choir and experienced life long ambitions such as producing Les Miserables and Mamma Mia. with some of the best people I know. My solicitor/artist/adventurer/ opera-loving Dad and Flin Flon have taught me that anything and everything is possible. Now I wanted to experience the Camino de Santiago.
I had never tried anything alone before and I had no idea how it was going to turn out but I wanted an adventure! I made the decision to walk 1500 kms in 2019, on my own from Le Puy en Velay, France to Santiago de Compostela, Spain . I budgeted two months. I am not an athlete, we are not wealthy and I was 58 years old. I'm not that cool woman in your community that you see jogging every morning as you drive to work. But I worked hard for over a year to make it happen and learned a lot. Having scoured the internet for information as I prepared for the walk, I was captivated by every story, but especially those of older pilgrims. I now also want to share what I had experienced to encourage others that it is definitely possible at any age to walk The Camino. So let the adventure begin!
